Hydrotherapy is a well-recogniSed form of exercise rehabilitation that involves exercising in the relaxing and supportive environment of a hydrotherapy pool. Hydrotherapy is a great option for post-surgical conditions (such as knee or hip replacement surgery), arthritis, mobility issues and pain management. The support, warmth and buoyancy of the water can assist with reducing pain, improving mobility and allowing rehabilitative exercise to be completed when land-based exercise may be too challenging or uncomfortable.

Exercise is well-recognized as an important component of the management of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Exercise plays a role in improving the way muscles respond to insulin, which can assist in the regulation of blood glucose levels. Exercise can also play an important role in the prevention of Type 2 diabetes.
Physiotas provides a Type 2 diabetes-specific exercise program, which also involves an educational component about how diabetes can be managed.
Patients with Type 2 diabetes may be eligible for Medicare-funded group-based exercise sessions following a GP referral.
